Of great value are the frescoes located in the basin of the right apse, painted by Giovanni di Taranto in 1304. 14th century fresco: it is the depiction of the Crucifix with the Sorrowful Virgin, heartbroken, between women and saints. A work by Giovanni Tarantino that has survived over the centuries, unlike the rest of the decorations that covered the interior of the Basilica, chipped to allow the installation of furnishings and then covered by stucco.
